Christine Tennyson Himes, Former Redmond Mayor and Civic Leader, Dies at 96. Christine Tennyson Himes, a longtime Eastside resident and former Redmond mayor, died peacefully at her Monroe, Washington home on December 30, 2025, at the age of 96. Himes served on the Redmond City Council and became the first woman to hold the full-time mayoral position from 1980 to 1984. Her legacy includes efforts to balance local growth with preservation, contributing to the creation and maintenance of 19 parks and a trail system in Redmond.
