Youth Ice Fishing Derby Held in Quechee Despite Frigid Temperatures. The 22nd Annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby was held last Saturday morning at Dewey’s Pond in Quechee, though the start was delayed several hours due to extremely cold weather. Families and young anglers from the local area still attended the event, where participants had the chance to learn and practice ice fishing techniques. Hartford Parks and Recreation staff assisted with check-ins and managed the activities for the children. The event drew residents from Quechee, Hartford, and White River Junction, reflecting strong community engagement. Eileen B. Turgeon, Lifelong Windsor Resident, Passes Away at 100. Eileen B. Turgeon died at age 100 on January 25, 2026, at Stoughton House in Windsor, Vermont, with family at her side. Born in Windsor in 1926, she attended local schools and spent her life in the community, raising her family. Her hobbies included thrifting, scratch-off lottery tickets, and classic movies, but she was most devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
