Marengo Historian Arrested on Child Pornography Charges Following Investigation. James R. Gibbons, a 72-year-old historian from Marengo known for his presentations around the Chicago area, was arrested after authorities discovered child sexual abuse material at his residence. The McHenry County Sheriff's Office initiated the investigation based on a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Law enforcement executed a search warrant and found digital evidence leading to his arrest. Gibbons now faces two felony counts of possession of child pornography.
