Emergency crews responded to a basement fire in a two-story home on North Harrison Avenue in unincorporated Round Lake early Sunday morning. Two residents managed to leave the house safely and were evaluated by paramedics. Firefighters from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District contained the blaze, which had started in the basement and spread to other areas. Woman Faces Charges After Wrong-Way Drunk Driving Crash in Gurnee. A woman is facing charges after reportedly driving the wrong way on Washington Street in unincorporated Gurnee and colliding head-on with a landscaping work truck Saturday night. The incident occurred east of Route 45 and involved a Tesla Model 3 and a Ford F-350 equipped with a snowplow. Both the driver and a passenger in the Tesla sustained injuries as a result of the crash. First responders from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Gurnee Fire Department assisted at the scene.
