Heavy Rain and Flooding Risk Expected in Los Angeles During Christmas Holiday. Los Angeles County and surrounding regions are bracing for an extended period of heavy rain and possible flooding as an atmospheric river develops over the Christmas holiday, according to the National Weather Service. Significant rainfall, gusty winds, and the possibility of urban and debris-flow flooding are expected from Tuesday through at least Saturday.
