Springwater Metal Artist Recognized by State Senator for Women's History Month: Springwater metal artist Stacey Mrva was honored by State Senator Pam Helming during a Women's History Month celebration at the New York State Capitol. Mrva, who operates Ironwood Studios and has created public art throughout the Finger Lakes, participated in events with other statewide honorees, including meetings with the governor and caucus members. She has provided welding workshops for women since 2022, reaching participants of various backgrounds and ages. Livingston County Advances Broadband Expansion for Rural Communities: Livingston County is moving forward with a major broadband expansion that may soon provide high-speed fiber internet to thousands of homes and businesses. The Light Up Livingston initiative is rolling out new service areas throughout Livonia, Lima, Mount Morris, Nunda, and Springwater. Currently, 68 miles of aerial fiber have been installed as part of the main backbone, with connections to individual addresses scheduled to begin in summer and fall 2026. Springwater Man Faces Drug-Impaired Driving Charges After Canadice Crash: A 37-year-old Springwater resident, Ryan W. Folts, was cited after driving his vehicle into a ditch along State Route 15A in the Town of Canadice early Friday morning. Ontario County Sheriff's deputies determined he was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs and had a revoked driver's license. Folts was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation. He was released with citations and is scheduled to appear in Canadice Town Court. Genesee Valley Conservancy Secures Conservation of Nearly 1,000 Acres in Southern Tier: Two major forest properties in Steuben and Livingston counties have been placed under conservation protection following a state grant of $577,220 to the Genesee Valley Conservancy. The preserved land includes an 841-acre tract in Steuben County, important for water quality and carbon storage, as well as a 135-acre parcel at the headwaters of Hemlock Lake in Springwater.
