Forest Rangers Respond to Multiple Rescues Including Fatal Hiker Incident: During a particularly demanding week, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers managed several incidents, including the recovery of a deceased hiker near Mount Marcy's summit in the Town of Keene. Rangers also conducted skier rescues and a prescribed burn as part of their broader activities across the state. The hiker who died was located after an extensive search; his dog was found unharmed and safely escorted out. Rescue missions continued that same evening in Essex County.
