Coast Guard Searches for Missing Woman After Incident on Cruise from Fort Lauderdale: Authorities are searching for a 77-year-old woman who went overboard from the Holland America cruise ship Nieuw Statendam, which departed from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on December 27. The incident occurred about 40 miles northeast of Sabana, Cuba, as the vessel was on its Eastern Caribbean itinerary. The U.S. Coast Guard has deployed both a cutter and a helicopter in the search effort. The scheduled stop in Key West on January 2 was canceled following the event. Dana L. Rocco, Former Humane Society of Westchester Manager, Dies at 69: Dana L. Rocco, age 69, died on December 7, 2025, at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center near Oneida, New York, after battling dementia. A graduate of White Plains High School and longtime shelter manager at the Humane Society of Westchester in New Rochelle, Rocco was recognized for her dedication to animal welfare.
