Venice Family Clinic and Hawthorne School District Open New Health Center: A new Health and Wellness Center has opened at Zela Davis School in partnership with Venice Family Clinic and the Hawthorne School District. The facility is expected to serve around 6,900 students, as well as their families, school staff, and other Hawthorne residents. Services provided include vaccinations, school physicals, general medical care, and mental health support, with clinic staff present two afternoons per week. Former Santa Monica Doctor Sentenced for Unlawful Ketamine Distribution: A former Santa Monica physician has received a 30-month federal prison sentence for unlawfully providing ketamine to actor Matthew Perry and his assistant despite the known medical risks. Salvador Plasencia, 44, operated Malibu Canyon Urgent Care in Calabasas and admitted guilt to four counts of distributing the controlled substance. He also surrendered his California medical license and was fined $5,600 by a U.S. District Judge. The court cited his awareness of the drug's dangers and its inappropriate use.
